Stallarholmens Viking Festival

Yesterday I had a lovely day with two friends and one friends dog!

A demonstration in viking games.

I made a new dress for the occasion. The green one.

For next year the plan is to update some more of my clothes and accessories.
The bracelets are made from horse hair by a friend.

I'm planning to make another post about the dress.

I made a hairstyle with a variety of accent braids, bought beads and a hairslide. The feather accessories I made from my ducks shed feathers and beads.

I skipped elastics and used coarse sewing thread to tie my braids.

One of the vendors stopped me to tell me that I got the hardest look he had seen that day.

I practiced my regular silliness.

I had tu choose from all of these lovelies.

I got this for my SO.

And this for myself. I needed more storage for my jewelry.

My SO also wanted two smaller knives.

I'm planning to shorten the stick.

These are for my viking dress.

Christmas - Hair and outfits

For the 24:th when we celebrate Christmas in Sweden, I wore a selfmade dress.

And loose hair.

My family though that I looked like a queen in my dress. And my oldest nephew was impressed by my dress and wondered where I got it. He was shocked to learn that I made it myself.

The 25th. Some yoga before getting ready to celebrate with the inlaws.

Two French tope braids a flower and a hair bead.

Very colourful!

Hair horns

This is why I made myself horns. I wanted to do hair horns!

Halloween is getting closer and I made myself horns

Medieval fair the silliness and shopping

Medieval fair my dress

I made this dress in 2017. This is what it looked like before I updated it this last week...

This is what it looks like now! I've altered the sleeves, added a ribbon and front lacing. It's as if those things finally made the dress into what it's supposed to look like!

Happy Easter!

In Sweden, easter is when witches are said to fly to Blåkulla. Often with a black cat. (Mine said that they would stay and watch our home this year.) And children of all genders dress up like "påskkärringar". The meaning is pretty much "easter bitches". That's witches in head scarves, skirts/dresses and usually with red cheeks. And then they walk from door to door asking for candy.

In Sweden easter is a lot bigger than Halloween! And we also decorate stuff with feathers and paint eggs.

What Easter traditions do you have in your country?

Trying something...
Trying to get into, how to create historically inspired hairstyles. But without using bobby pins. I refuse to use bobby pins! 🤪

So as an attempt to discover/come up with some techniques (while watching a period drama), I made this with a comb and U-pins.

I'm starting to learn what I can do and will play more with this. This hairstyle was made by pulling back the front pieces and attach them with a comb. Fold up a braid and form a bun around and over the comb. Then I rope braided the lengths of the front pieces and formed two "roses" on each side with U-pins. And tucked the ends under the bun.
